Announcement: New Line of Boutique Biscuits available

We are pleased to announce our new line of boutique dog biscuits and wholesaling operations giving dogs across Melbourne an opportunity to sample our creative, wholesome and “scrumptious home-made goodies” that include birthday cakes, donuts and savoury treats. (Bayside Leader, November 23, 2010)

Philip was pleased to announce five new flavours of Boutique Dog biscuits as well as three dessert flavours. His decision to expand stems from a genuine concern for canine health and enthusiasm from making tasty yet nutritious biscuits affordable. Philip has worked hard to source all natural products with which to make satisfying and healthy biscuits for all breeds of dogs. Philip in addition to creating the range prepares and bakes all of the biscuits in store.

The biscuits come in eight unique sweet and savory flavors: Kangaroo and Rosemary, Granola and Yogurt, Moroccan Lamb, Beef Goulash, Almond Biscotti, Mediterranean Chicken, Choc (Carob) Chip and Tuna and Kelp. Each flavor is individually made in batches to avoid cross-contamination of potential allergens and packed immediately to enhance freshness.

Philip and Alice are aiming to have their biscuits in stores in Bayside and South East Melbourne with options to expand westward. They will come in individual servings and in packs of three mixed flavours.

“We’re excited about the promise of our biscuits,” Philip says. “They really are great for your dog and we use real meat and real ingredients – you won’t find anything artificial here. The great thing is you’ll now be able to get them locally as well as from us in the store.”

The Diamond Dog Monty, resident food tester and the shop’s “harshest critic” gave it the paws up.

“If Monty doesn’t eat it, it doesn’t get sold!” Alice added.

The list of stores carrying the biscuits will be made available on the Diamond Dog Online website in the coming weeks.

Flea Follies

Although unfortunate, fleas appearing on your dog is a part of life. We can feed our pup, groom them and exercise them regularly but fleas can appear at almost any time despite keeping a clean home or even if your dog spends most of its time indoors.

Most pet owners believe that seeing one or two fleas on their dog or cat means that the flea infestation is minor. Others may think they “caught them” from another animal in the neighbourhood. This is rarely the case.

Adult fleas can produce eggs quickly and in large numbers. Fleas lay their eggs in the environment in which the pet lives. For most pet owners, the pet's environment is the home. Flea eggs may take several months to develop into adult fleas, depending on environmental conditions. A comprehensive pet flea control program which kills not only adult fleas but also flea eggs and flea larvae is necessary to control existing flea infestations in dogs.

Many pet owners mistakenly believe that because a product is natural or holistic in origin that the product is also safe. There are many natural flea control methods which are extremely safe with little to no chance of adverse reactions. These would include such things as using a flea comb to remove adult fleas, utilizing flea traps in the household, using borate products in the home, and using nematodes in the yard. However, there are some natural flea products which can be dangerous for pets.

We recommend Frontline, Heartgard and Paragard to stave off fleas, ticks, heartworm as well as a raft of other ailments such as parasites. We believe they are the most effective and most comprehensive program to eliminate these illnesses in their tracks to make sure your puppy gets the most out life!
